Lagan at dawn

This view over the River Lagan, Belfast, looking over the Ormeau Bridge to Ormeau Park beyond, was scanned from a slide taken in 1976. Despite the picturesque dawn, the abandoned prams and other rubbish illustrate the unkempt nature of the river at that time. With redevelopment and a return of population to the rivers edge, and a concerted attempt to reduce pollution, the river is now much cleaner and supports fish once again.
