Old Red Sandstone data table

Family:
Sedimentary.
Formation: Formed by layers of sand building up beneath the sea.
Texture: Can be gritty to the touch.
Colour: Red
Location: Tyrone, Fermanagh and the Antrim coast near Cushendun.
Uses: Building.
Chemistry: Made of quartz, and so does not react with acid.
Notes: Becomes quartzite when metamorphosed.
