Igneous.
Formation: Formed from lava which has cooled slowly below the earth's surface.
Texture: Coarse: visible minerals.
Colour: Mottled: black, white and pink or grey.
Location: Mourne mountains.
Uses: Building, kerb stones, street cobbles.
Chemistry: Crystals of feldspar, mica and quartz.
Notes: Found as outcrops after weathering has exposed them.
