Sedimentary.
Formation: Silica dissolved from chalk and redeposited in bands or nodules.
Texture: Fine grained and smooth.
Colour: Blue; grey; white or creamy.
Location: Found in the chalk (Ulster White Limestone) of the north and east coasts of County Antrim.
Uses: Was used in Stone Age times to make tools and weapons.
Chemistry: None.
Notes: Breaks to give very sharp edges. Can be shaped.
