Tyne Bridge

This bridge was opened in 1928 at which stage it was the largest single span in the world linking Newcastle with Gateshead. It cost £700,000 to build — the recent refurbishment cost £1.8 million. The towers are faced with granite. They were originally intended to be used as 5 story warehouses but the flooring was never completed.
