Arthur's
Seat
Both
Arthur's Seat (on the right) and Salisbury Crag (on the left) are contained
within the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. Arthur's Seat is the plug of
an underwater volcano which erupted in the Carboniferous Period about
335 million years ago. Salisbury Crag is a classic crag and tail where
glaciers have left a tail of sediment extending towards Arthur's Seat
to the right of the crag in the picture above. No other European city
has at its heart such a splendid semi-natural park such as Holyrood
Park.
