Harland
and Wolff
Formed
in 1861, the shipbuilders famous for ships such as the Titanic and
Olympic, HMS Eagle and Canberra, and are still refitting vessels such
as the Bulford and Borgny Dolphin drilling rigs pictured here. The
Musgrave Yard was developed between the wars and played a vital roile
in producing naval vessels. In April and May of 1941 about 60% of
the facilities were destroyed by German bombing, but within two years
it was fully operational again.
