town
Moretonhampstead
is a small English town in Devon, at the edge of Dartmoor. Wool formed
the backbone of its economy since it was established by the Saxons
about 1300 years ago. During the late 1600s wool began to decline
in importance but the town was by then an important market centre.
Its location within the Dartmoor National Park and the designation
of much of the town as a Conservation Area makes it a popular stop
on the tourist trail.
