Twelve Bens There are twelve peaks in this range of mountains in Connemara, Ireland giving them the nickname of the twelve bens. They are Binn
Bhán While not very high, rising to a maximum of 730m, they are a superb climb in good weather providing superb views over the Connemara countryside. In
the foreground is the lake and rock strewn landscape of Connemara. While
picturesque and a real asset to modern tourism, such a landscape made
conditions for farming difficult. The Potato Famine of the 1840s hit
particularly hard here. |
