Khreschatyk

Ukraine became independent of Russia in 1991 although emblems of the old regime can still be found. The flag adopted by the new country and flying here in Maydan Nezalezhnosti - a square off Vulitsya Khreschatyk built in the 1950s - symbolises the steppe and the sky.
